AFSCME FREE COLLEGE BENEFIT

Those calling for a return to an era when good-paying jobs did not require a college education are burying their heads in the sand. Research continues to show that a college degree is one of the best ways to achieve the American Dream, and the AFSCME Free College benefit can help.

The benefit – with no out-of-pocket costs to you – is provided by AFSCME in partnership with Eastern Gateway Community College, an accredited, non-profit institution and a member of the University System of Ohio. AFSCME members, their families (spouses, domestic partners, children and grandchildren) and retirees can enroll in a program to earn an associate’s degree online from anywhere in the country. Credits can also be transferred to most four-year public universities.

SCHOLARSHIPS

CSEA Scholarships
CSEA awards 18 $1,000 scholarships under the Irving Flaumenbaum Memorial Scholarship. Plus, Pearl Insurance and MetLife each sponsor a one-time $2,500 award.
Applying for a Flaumenbaum scholarship automatically puts an applicant in consideration for the Pearl Insurance and MetLife scholarships.  Students are only eligible to win one of these three scholarships.  Application deadline is April 15.
The application will be available for download by January 31.
PLEASE NOTE: Old applications could disqualify potential candidates. Please do not use applications from previous years – applications were recently revised. Please check back soon.

*Please note: the application submission period for 2019 has ended.

CSEA also awards the John. J. Kelly Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to students who are the children of CSEA members killed or permanently disabled as a result of their jobs, or who died while an active CSEA member.  For more information on applying for this scholarship, contact CSEA at 1-800-342-4146 x1341.
