My Home Page - LIBERTY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM

  •  Hello this is BOB BOWMAN and welcome to the webpage for the LIBERTY PARTNERSHIPS PROGRAM here at the HERMON-DEKALB C.S.D.  This program is a collaboration effort supplementing and implementing academic support here at Hermon-DeKalb.  The LIBERTY PARTNERSHIPS PROGRAM is sponsored by SUNY CANTON and funded by the New York State Department of Education.

Our mission together as educators is or can be a convoluted exercise in the instructional world of manipulation and motivation.  Hmmm  sounds suspiciously challenging and complicated. Sure it can be but clearly doesn't have to be. By implementing the various skillsets and psychological tools we each come prepared with; success, can be accomplished in the lives of the young minds and bodies we have the responsibility of molding for the future.

Like many other school districts these hallways are filled with many young students who struggle day in and day out with a multitude of personal socially complex identity issues. No matter how we interact with them and influence their academic and behavioral progress throughout the school day, we don't walk in their shoes or live their lives when they go home.

In my role I have to be prepared to assume numerous personas in dealing with numerous students throughout the school day.  A big part of what I do as an educator is applying different behavioral strategies to manage and modify students behaviors as needed throughout each day. The additional task of encouraging them to keep focused, taking their classwork assignments seriously; thereby ultimately achieving success is often a reachable goal that goes hand in hand with compassion and understanding.

Yes there certainly can be many interesting outcomes with all the different personality issues we deal with, and implementing tough love when necessary while dealing with high school students. There is no bottom line but treating each student on a case by case basis is essential; willingness to listen and see the real issues; strategizing for their successful futures, maybe, just maybe, can and will make the ultimate difference.
